Today is the last day for you to work on your history projects. I will be looking over your notes - if you have any to send me.
U.S. History Projects
Your goal is to teach me something – show your passion for a topic in U.S. History.
You will need the following:
1) An overview of the topic. What was it about, when did it happen, and why was it important? This should be a short informative essay about the topic. Note, it can be delivered orally, but it probably should be written.
2) You need to connect it to a larger theme in American History – some themes identified by APUSH are below at the bottom of the page. Note, there are many many many themes in U.S. History. This is an example, not the list.
3) At least one primary source about your topic. Please present an overview of this source.
4) At least one critical source (this would be a professional interpretation of the topic – positive, neutral, negative) about your topic. Please present an overview of this source.
5) At least five sources of information in your works cited
6) At least five visuals
7) Presentation needs to be at least ten minutes in length
Work, Exchange, and Technology: How did the growth of mass manufacturing in the rapidly urbanizing North affect definitions of and relationships between workers, and those for whom they worked? How did the continuing dominance of agriculture and the slave system affect southern social, political, and economic life?
Peopling: How did the continued movement of individuals and groups into, out of, and within the United States shape the development of new communities and the evolution of old communities?
Politics and Power: How did the growth of ideas of mass democracy, including such concerns as expanding suffrage, public education, abolitionism, and care for the needy affect political life and discourse?
America in the World: How did the United States use diplomatic and economic means to project its power in the Western Hemisphere? How did foreign governments and individuals describe and react to the new American nation?
Environment and Geography: How did environmental and geographic factors affect the development of sectional economics and identities?
Ideas, Beliefs, and Cultures: How did the idea of democratization shape and reflect American arts, literature, ideals, and culture?
